The sudden cancellation of “Roseanne” was breathtaking. It took Harvey Weinstein three days to get sacked.

And some people think it’s unfair.
The founder of the Conservative website Turning Point USA commented: “Bill Maher makes comparisons to Trump being a gorilla all the time! The difference? Bill Maher is a liberal, Roseanne is a free-thinking Trump supporter.”
Actually, Maher compares Trump to an orangutan.
“He says he’s proved that he’s not the love child of an orangutan,” Mahar said.
And that was comedy retaliation for Trump going all birther on Obama. Plus, it’s what HBO pays Bill Maher to do.
Also, there was more than just Roseanne’s tweet comparing Obama associate Valerie Jarrett to a primate. She also retweeted an article headlined: “Valerie Jarrett, Was Her Mommie A Commie,” and there were tweets spreading bogus conspiracies about Chelsea Clinton and George Soros.
And it all came on the day Starbucks closed all its stores for unconscious bias training.
So was it unfair? Well, sure, when you consider what the president gets away with.
But consider what Roseanne has gotten away with. If she sang the national anthem today as she did back in 1990, the president would kick her out of the country.
But there’s an idea for a comeback. Go into politics. It’s the one career that completely bypasses the HR department.
