Washington wildfires: Ways to help

All across Washington, groups and individuals are doing all they can to help the victims of the wildfires. (Please donate wisely. The Secretary of State Office warns that scam artists will pose as charity operations.)

Donate money

The Puyallup Tribe’s Emerald Casino and Pierce County Crime Stoppers: 100% of your donation will go to support the firefighters and the wildfire victims in Eastern Washington. Donate online.

Red Cross: You can donate to the Red Cross, any amount is helpful. Call 1-800-RedCross or donate online. You can also text the words RedCross to 90999 and $10 will be charged to your cell phone bill.

Community Foundation of North Central Washington: The Community Foundation of North Central Washington has set up the NCW Fire Relief Fund. “While some support from the relief fund may go to immediate needs, our focus will be helping families and individuals with long-term recovery efforts.”

The Salvation Army: The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team has been working in Central Washington and the areas devastated by the wildfires. Chelan Valley Hope via Give Naked: Chelan Valley Hope has asked Give Naked to put up a Give for funds that they will distribute to help those who have experienced loss due to the fires. Donate online

North Cascades Bank: North Cascades Bank is taking donations at its branches to help wildfire victims in Pateros and Brewster.

Washington Federal Bank: Washington Federal Bank is taking donations at its branches that will be transferred to the Red Cross.

Lake Chelan Veterinary Hospital: Lake Chelan Veterinary Hospital has set up a fund to help animals affected by the wildfire. Send a check or money order to Lake Chelan Veterinary Hospital, P.O. Box 1238, Chelan, WA 98816. Mark “Attn: Alta Good Samaritan Fund” on checks. Call 509-682-5812 with credit card donations.

Wenatchee Valley Humane Society: Donations to the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society can be made here.

Mission Ridge: Mission Ridge Ski Resort is matching donations made through the Mission Ridge website up to a total of $5,000. Your $5 will support local people impacted the fires. 100% of the donations will be passed along to local families who have been affected by the fires and have a need.

Band of Brothers: 100% of what Band of Brothers raise will go directly to those who need it most. Tax deductible donations can be made at bobnw.org
