When there is a big construction project in your neighborhood, everyone suddenly becomes an expert, even though they are sorely under-qualified.

“Yeah, looks like they are pouring the foundation … or something.”

Now you can actually sound like you know what you’re talking about. Check out the Seattle Department of Transportation’s new interactive Capital Projects Dashboard.

What is a Capital Projects Dashboard? It’s a fancy title for “a map of stuff that is happening.”

When is that bike lane going to be painted? Are we ever going to get a sidewalk? When is that light rail station going to be finished?

The Capital Projects Dashboard also shows you if a project is over budget, assuming the data from the Seattle Department of Transportation is correct.
According to SDOT, the new tool is advancing the goal of increased transparency on the work the city is doing to keep goods and people moving.
