Drivers in Mount Vernon reported that someone was shooting from an overpass on I-5 on Wednesday morning.
One driver thought his car had been hit around 9:30 a.m., but the Washington State Patrol says there was no damage done to his vehicle. A trooper responding to an unrelated, disabled vehicle nearby heard three shots fired.
No injuries were reported.
The shooter is only described as a man in dark clothing “with a rifle shooting down on I-5 from the Blackburn overpass,” said trooper Heather Axtman.
Troopers don’t believe he is in the area. Troopers aren’t ruling out the possibility this is related to a shooting on SR 509 in Sea-Tac last week. That shooter is still on the loose.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the state patrol.
