Over the weekend, there was a madman at the Walmart in Tumwater. He had already shot a 16-year-old kid driving down the street, and then in the parking lot at Walmart, he tried to carjack a vehicle and opened fire on a 47-year-old grandfather, paralyzing him from the neck down.
It could have gotten much, much worse, except for the fact that there were several Good Samaritans on hand carrying guns. They were all legally carrying firearms with CPLs. One of the guys, a pastor named David George, shot and killed the madman, 44-year-old Tim Day.

At a press conference speaking about his actions, David George was very choked up, very emotional. He is a highly trained gun owner, and a very responsible gun owner. As a volunteer firefighter, he has undergone active shooter training and knew how to respond in the situation. How many more people would have died if it hadn’t been for this guy and the other Good Samaritans?
I’m so sick of the people who say we would be better off with fewer guns. You know what? The madmen will always still get the guns. You will never be able to blink your eyes like I Dream of Genie and have all the guns in America disappear. The bad guys are always going to get guns. And to have good guys like this, with that level of training, expertise, and thought, carrying a gun — that saves lives.
These are real Americans here. God bless Pastor David George for the deaths that he prevented from happening because of his training and his courage.
