Early voting update

WASHINGTON (AP) - More than 30 million people have already voted in 34 states and the District of Columbia, either by mail or in person. No votes will be counted until Tuesday but some key states are releasing the party affiliation of those who vote early.

Votes: 1.7 million

Democrats: 35 percent

Republicans: 37 percent

Florida

Votes: 4.5 million

Democrats: 43 percent

Republicans: 39 percent

___

Iowa

Votes: 640,000

Democrats: 42 percent

Republicans: 32 percent

___

Nevada

Votes: 702,000

Democrats: 44 percent

Republicans: 37 percent

___

North Carolina

Votes: 2.8 million

Democrats: 48 percent

Republicans: 31 percent

___

Ohio

Votes: 1.7 million

Democrats: 29 percent

Republicans: 23 percent

    Could it be the independent vote? Oh darn...that means that 27% of the early voting in Colorado was not Democrat or Republican. The other states on the list are similar. I wonder who's polling ahead with the independents? AP forgot to mention that.

    I would like to know how these numbers compare to 2008. What were the early numbers for the Democrats and Republicans then versus now. I just have a feeling we are going to see that the numbers are going to be a lot different.
