Shameful manipulation of a painful immigration issue

Leftists have outrageously compared the separation of children at the border to Nazi policies. But the Nazis separated children to murder them while Americans separate them to protect them while their parents are detained and their cases processed.
It’s also deeply misleading when some conservatives cite a “crisis” at the Southern border: illegal entries have dropped more than 80 percent since 2000, from 1.6 million to 300,000. There’s also NO connection between illegal immigration and rising crime. Crime has gone down almost everywhere and statistics show the undocumented are less likely to commit violence, not more so.
Big cities with the highest murder rates — St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit — have few illegals while those with the lowest murder rates — El Paso, San Diego, San Jose — have huge populations of the undocumented. We can’t make progress on immigration policy when both sides promote distortions.
