10 reasons why we love living in Seattle

When the clouds clear and you can see Mt. Rainier, it's the most beautiful place on Earth. The Northwest will be one of the best places to live if global warming takes hold. Seattle will be a potential climate refuge, writes University of Washington meteorologist Cliff Mass. When it comes to finding a new job, Seattle is the place to be. Seattle's on track to add even more jobs in 2015, and we're set to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Seattle is nicknamed the Emerald City for good reason: Its 140 days of rain annually keep grass green, and by the time April rolls around, you can count on seeing leaves on the trees. Seattle does hot dogs better than anyone else. Why? Because we add cream cheese for a Seattle spin on the Seattle dog. Seattle has been called a "Miserable Sports City" but we disagree. Win or lose (and we lost so hard it hurts) fans still lined the streets to welcome home the Seattle Seahawks. We root for the Mariners no matter what. The Sounders regularly sell out when they play at CenturyLink. And we haven't given up on basketball: #BringBackOurSonics. There's always a festival of some sort happening in the city. Sometimes it's something big over a holiday weekend- like Bumberbershoot or Folklife. Other weekends we celebrate the city's heritage, like the Ballard SeaFood Fest or the Maritime Festival (pictured above.) In the winter we spread cheer with The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition. There's never a reason to stay home bored. Elsewhere in the country kids wade through snow banks and adults commute to their 9-5s if there's a dusting of snow. But in Seattle, where panic mode sets in, the city comes to a screeching halt. And that means even adults take to the street to go sledding, and they get really serious about it.
