Dori: If Kshama Sawant retires from Seattle City Council, I retire

I don’t want to bring anyone’s day down, but I’m hearing some news that is just ripping my heart out.
A story by KTTH’s Jason Rantz states, “rumors are swirling that Socialist City Councilmember Kshama Sawant may not seek re-election.”
I am glum. I don’t know if it’s true, but what am I going to do if I don’t have her? Who provides more content for our show than Kshama Sawant? She has been nothing but a wealth of content for us.
I hope and I pray that it’s not true.
Kshama Sawant doesn’t return my calls. It’s very hurtful. In fact, the last time we had a little visit she hung up on me on the air.
She was the one who had the best cover of The Police’s “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” when Councilmember Sally Bagshaw called her out for using City Hall printers to make her socialist propaganda posters.
Remember when there was a Boeing strike and she said we should get rid of all the management at Boeing and that the workers should take over the plant? She wanted to “retool” the machines at Boeing so they would stop producing “destructive war machines” — you know, airplanes — and start producing mass transit.
Then there was that wonderful moment where Kshama was speechifying downtown about the head tax and was drowned out by the construction workers who kept shouting, “No head tax!”
We cannot lose her in public life, for crying out loud.
Gosh darn, I’m going to miss her if this is true. I don’t want to be too melodramatic, but if she retires, I retire. There’s no way I will do this show without her.
