Dori needs some help from any listeners who are English majors and grammar enthusiasts.
Seattle City Councilmember Mike O’Brien recently gave a rather perplexing statement to The Seattle Times on the subject of the rising homelessness problems in his district, despite the city’s promise years ago to address the issue.

“That’s a long time to be living in, ‘Hey, it’s a little bit of a crisis, let’s get through it,’ and the numbers continue to increase — and in some neighborhoods, like Ballard, significantly. The length of this crisis and the lack of the city’s ability to create a comprehensive strategy to reduce the crisis is really pushing people’s buttons,” he stated.

Dori got a bit bogged-down in O’Brien’s words, and thought that a good, old-fashioned sentence diagram might go a long way toward clearing up the confusion.
“If you could diagram this sentence and then send it to me, I’d really appreciate it,” Dori said. “Because I can’t make heads or tails of that one.”
