Just last week, a model at the Sports Illustrated Swim Search proudly went strutting down the runway breastfeeding her daughter as the audience cheered. It was as if to say: see America, this is what breasts are really for.

Yet, that same week, there were two high-profile shamings of breastfeeding moms. One in Mora, Minnesota, where Stephanie Buchanan was feeding her son at a public pool
“Patron came up — a lady — at the pool and told me that I needed to cover up,” she explained.
And another in Clinton Michigan, where Ashlie Hanel was confronted by a server at a Pizza restaurant.
“Can you put a napkin … Or I can put a towel over you and your son,” Hanel said.
Of course, the restaurant and the public pool issued apologies. But the breast haters themselves never seem to apologize.
According to Debate.org, 35 percent of us are anti-pubic breastfeeding for reasons such as it’s indecent, men will stare, and it’s just uncomfortable to watch.
If you saw a mom giving her child ice cream you might say, “Wow that looks good.” But that probably isn’t appropriate in the breastfeeding context.

But then don’t look, right? Who goes around watching other peoples’ children eat?
Do we go around watching random adults eat? No, because it’s disgusting! Especially people who buy their lunch at food trucks and then walk down the street leaving a trail of creamy ranch dressing. At least drape a towel over yourself!
