Feminist Flyer: Amelia Earhart's Prenup Revealed!

Amelia-Rachel
Amelia Earhart is already known as a feminist icon, being the first female aviator to fly a solo transatlantic flight. But a glance at her 1930's prenuptial agreement, with George Putnam, shows that she was ahead of her time in the relationship department as well.

    Whoo Hoo!
Got bill's blood pressure up! Like I've told other posters on this site, we can be anyone we want with the anonymity of the internet. The posters that boast about it the most are usually the one's that are not what they say they are. And name calling is the result of running out of facts. Sorry bill, you lost this one. I'm just a long haul truck driver and I spotted your B.S. a mile away.

Why do you need to brag?
Not many people give a hoot, myself included, where your world travels have taken you. And why do you need to broadcast your whereabouts on the internet? Not smart. By the way, Amelia was not a "mediocre" pilot. Google all you want mister Big Shot, you are still a loser in my book.

    Mediocre
I'm the one that said she was mediocre. And again, I stand by it.

    Spell check, Big Shot
Quit being a troll and a baiter. Later it gets in the day, the worse your spelling is. Why is that, bill?

    Prenuptial Agreement?
Ahead of her time, Amelia Earhart may have been, but this is not a prenuptial agreement. It's a pre-divorce agreement, or an open marriage contract, perhaps. She certainly was independent, especially for her times. This probably accounts for the enduring fascination with her life. That and the whole pilot thing and the way she died. She remains an interesting character, and not just for women!!

    Cowardly lying punk, no less!
Why in the heck do you want my name and address? I've told you all you need to know. I'm a long haul trucker, I travel the I-5 corridor 5 days a week from the California central valley to the produce houses in Kent, I'm a licensed pilot, am college educated and would not stoop so low as to call anyone the names you have called me. It shows me that my judgement about you is right. You may be world famous and have a bajillion dollars in the bank but you have NO integrity. And Amelia is still the best.

    Still?
Seriously? _Still_ the best?? She was never even close. Jackie Cochrane was the best. End of story.

End of YOUR story. It's yours, tell it as you will. I'm just here trying to bait Mr. Bigshot into calling me more names and making a bigger fool of himself.

It isn't _my_ story. The facts speak for themselves, and can't be denied.

    Old news
I read a few bios of Ms. Earhart in the 70's/80's that discussed this letter she wrote just prior to marrying Putnam. It's not a recent discovery.

Back at the assisted living facility in Sequim? Hope they re-stocked your supply of attends. Maybe you should get some anti-depressants to calm you down, is your jet setting lifestyle getting to be too much to handle? Advice from a common man, don't get too carried away with yourself, fact and fiction are only one lie away.

Interesting -- the definition of being ahead of her time
So let me see if I have this right -- if you dont hang onto traditional marriage and God's laws, you are considered ahead of your time? This is the basis for progressive thinking and it is destroying the foundation of marriage and weakening the family unit. This country may be divided in it's view, but there is only one God and I personally am of the opinion that a God with obviously more intelligence than all of us put together knew before our time how to guide us to happier, more productive lives and yet we are continually wanting to re-write the laws and the rules that would lead us to contentment and eternal life. I don't get how we could have evolved out of nothing and this Earth didn't fall out of the sky; therefore there must be an intellectual being that created us. Well, do you think that he knew what He was doing when he created humans and this World or are we and this world we live in a mistake of nature? If we evolved out of nothing, we must be a mistake of nature and not an intricate designed, lovingly made creation of an intellegent being.

The scriptures you speak of were written a bajillion years ago. Certainly there are good things to be taken from the Bible, the Ten Commandments are a good set of rules to follow in one's life. There is no traditional marriage anymore. There is traditional marriage for those who choose to have it that way, but when two persons love one another, regardless of gender or religion or in this case, financial divisions, does it really matter in the big picture if there is the mutual respect and love of one another? If we all adhere to God's Law without any 21st Century common sense, we would be like the radical Muslims. Totally irrelevent in this modern world.
