Four charged in homicide following cat's death

EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) -- Three men and a 15-year-old boy have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Coulee City, Wash., man in an argument that began as the result of the death of a cat.

They are 18-year-old Alexander L. Wiltfong of Coulee City, 23-year-old Robert M. Wiltfong of Soap Lake, Wash.; 20-year-old Michael M. Loska of Soap Lake and a 15-year-old boy from Coulee City.

Grant County Superior Court records accuse the four of attacking 49-year-old Jeff A. Smith of Coulee City Oct. 10. Witnesses reported seeing Alexander Wiltfong and several women arguing with Smith about a cat Smith reportedly killed.

Court records say Alexander L. Wiltfong, Robert M. Wiltfong, Loska and the juvenile went to Smith's house after the argument, entered the house and fought with the victim.

Smith's body was found in bed Oct. 12. An autopsy showed he died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head.

Bail for Alexander and Robert Wiltfong, and Loska has been set at $250,000.
