Police: Fake deliveryman stabs woman in her Spanaway home
on October 19, 2012 @ 12:36 pm (Updated: 1:47 pm - 10/19/12 )The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a violent robber who dressed as a deliveryman and forced his way into a Spanaway woman's home Friday morning.
Police say the 57-year-old woman was bound and stabbed, but managed to make her way to her next door neighbor's house.
"She was a mess from the waist down. She was bloody from the waist down. She had duct tape around her head," neighbor Vanessa Proctor told KING-5.
According to police, the suspect stole the woman's car, which was found abandoned several blocks away.
Detective Ed Troyer says the crime is similar to other cases in the county.
"We've had a few of these where people dressed as delivery salesmen tried to gain entry to a house in a residential robbery. That concerns us as we're coming into the holiday season and obviously, there are going to be a lot of deliverymen out there."
The woman is in surgery at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Police describe the suspect as a short, Hispanic man. He was wearing a brown delivery outfit and carrying a package.
