Expect police activity aboard ferry boat on Puget Sound Monday
on October 29, 2012 @ 7:35 am (Updated: 7:45 am - 10/29/12 )Police activity on the water Monday may look serious, but don't worry if you see a lot of excitement around a ferry near Vashon, the Coast Guard and law agencies are conducting a drill.
Authorities are training Monday for a possible threat to a ferry on Puget Sound. The drill calls for officers to deploy from a helicopter by ropes onto the ferry. Others will board the moving ferry from Coast Guard boats.
The training is taking place on the water between Vashon Island and Edmonds.
In addition to the Coast Guard, the drill involves the Washington State Patrol, King County sheriff's office and Seattle police.
The drill shouldn't have any impact on regular ferry service.
The exercise begins at 6 a.m. and will continue through 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
