Breaking: Boy Scouts vote to allow openly gay scouts; Gay adults remain barred as leaders

In a fit of road rage, driver runs over man and leaves license plate at the scene

The Seattle Police have a very special message for the suspect involved in a violent road rage incident Wednesday morning.

Detectives have your license plate. You left it at the scene of the crime. They know the address where your car is registered. Do the right thing and call 911 to make arrangements to turn yourself in.

The incident started on southbound I-5 around 6:30 a.m. when one driver cut another off. It ended when both pulled over after taking the Mercer exit.

"We all know that commuting to and from Seattle can be a pain sometimes," said Seattle Police Detective Renee Witt. "But you just have to be patient and not be lured into some sort of stand off with someone."

This, however, didn't end with a stand off.

One man got out of his car to confront the other and he was run over by the other driver.

The 52-year-old victim was taken to Harborview with a broken leg.

There's no description of the suspect. The victim said that there were no words exchanged between them and he didn't see the driver of the vehicle.

Then again, he left his license plate at the scene.

"During the ramming of the car, the suspect's front license place fell off," said Witt. The driver took off leaving exactly how to find him behind.

    victim?
this was mutual combat. both of them cut the other off and slammed on the brakes according to reports i've read. they knew the risks of what they were engaging in. glad dude got a broken leg, and no innocent people were hurt. please don't waste any more time or resources on this case. it ended well, leave it be.

    Yeah
I was told the person who exits their vehicle, goes to jail. It could be self defense....or asualt with a deadly (car) weapon. It really all depends on the details. But you are wrong Dori Fan there is no "mutual combat" here. What? are you like 14?

Read the Pope's 10 Commandments for Drivers. People have an awful lot of false bravado when they're safely locked in their cars. Have you ever cussed somebody out and gave them the finger when they "cut you off" while walking through the mall? Dimwits ...

aggressive driving means one person driving crazy.
Road rage is two d-bags voluntarily going after each other on the road. Once they both decide to get in on the actions neither is a victim.

Easy...just put an NRA sticker on your bumper
Nobody is going to follow you onto the off-ramp, unless they are packing as well, in which case both parties may end up buying each other beers at the nearest bar.

    RE: Dori monson fan
I'm so very glad you're not in charge of anything. I'd be afraid if you were.

It doesn't matter if both of the drivers were d-bags. The point is that one of the drivers decided to engage in possible attempted homicide by turning his car into a literal weapon to harm the other person.

If you can't see that, then I'm not sure what to say.

They both were using their cars as weapons...
Slamming on your brakes and causing someone to rear-end your car can cause death or serious injury to the person in the following car.

    let's be consistent
According to an earlier article on this site, as long as the two aggressors agree to fight and there are no bystanders hurt and no damage to public or private property other than their own, then there is no crime. Sounds to me like both drivers need an attitude adjustment. Let them work it out with their insurance companies. I doubt both will share a beer after it's all over. That just doesn't seem to be the way it works anymore.
