Bah Humbug! Thieves steal Christmas toys from Seattle YWCA
on December 10, 2012 @ 5:36 pm (Updated: 5:32 am - 12/11/12 )Talk about a Grinch.
The Seattle YWCA says someone stole more than $6,000 worth of toys that were supposed to be presents for homeless kids.
"Who does that? Who steals from children two weeks before Christmas?" said Nichelle Hilton with the YWCA. Hilton says the toys were in a storage locker near their East Cherry Street branch in Seattle.
Hilton says they're not sure when the toys were stolen. A staff member noticed the door to the locker was open last Friday but didn't think anything was wrong. The theft was discovered Monday morning.
Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs and former Mariner Dave Henderson provided the toys through their non-profit Rick's Toys for Kids, which recently held a large fundraiser to get the toys for needy kids in the Central District.
Seattle Police are investigating the robbery.
If you would like to donate toys to help out, you can drop them off at the YWCA, 2820 East Cherry St.
