Issaquah nudist group to welcome end of the world in the buff

December 21, 2012: It’s end of the Mayan Calendar and the latest answer in what sometimes seems to be humanity’s favorite guessing game, “When Will the World End?”

With that date hanging over us, it’s a particularly busy holiday season for all kinds of people – including one group in Tiger Mountain, just outside Issaquah.

The “preppers” are stocking their bunkers. The devout are (hopefully) cleansing their souls. The government is urging calm, Mayan scholars are huffily protesting their statements are getting twisted, and some locals are getting ready for a big party.

A big bare-naked party.

The Fraternity Snoqualmie Family Nudists own a 40 acre plot of land near Issaquah and have been holding events in the buff for several years.

Next Friday they’re inviting everyone to, “Go out the way you came in…Naked.” The party will celebrate what some say will be the end of the world and what others say will mark the beginning of a new spiritual phase in our species’ evolution.

Along with the glories of human bodies in all their shapes, sizes, and tan lines, there will be a large snack buffet, hot tubs, saunas, games and a bonfire. What will you watch? How about an all-day Apocalyptic Picture Show with theme movies including “The Day After Tomorrow,” “The Core,” “Armageddon,” “War of the Worlds,” “Independence Day,” and “ZombieLand.”

First time visitors get in free and everyone else can come in by paying $10 for a membership.

A one day only membership of course. What’s the point of paying more than that on the day the world ends?
