Report: Embattled Pacific Mayor Cy Sun flies the coop

Not only did Pacific Mayor Cy Sun stay away from this week's full-house city council meeting, he might have left town.

The write-in mayor has been a lightning rod in the small, financially struggling south King County town, which is on the verge of disincorporation. He's fired city employees and Pacific's finances are in shambles.

Mayor Sun missed this weeks' city council meeting which focused on a possible annexation to the city of Auburn.

Now, a source tells KING 5 that Sun might have left town.

Pacific's liability insurance carrier threatens to drop coverage by the end of the year, citing lack of confidence in the mayor although King County and Pierce County have promised to provide some services, temporarily.

Congressman Dave Reichert sent a letter to the insurance carrier asking for an extension of six months to allow for the process of incorporation or possibly, the recall of the mayor. Sun has appealed a recall effort to the State Supreme Court and until the high court rules, recall backers cannot collect signatures on a petition.

Over the weekend, Sun was caught stuffing mailboxes with a three-page letter defending his actions. In the letter, Sun blamed the City of Pacific's problems on its city council.

Stupid excuse for a town. A dive bar, espresso stand, cheap motel and a speed trap.

    Channel 5 creating news
Mayor Sun did not skip town. This is ridiculous. He has property in Oregon and simply went there for a few days. Your source sucks channel 5. Why should the Mayor go to anymore council meetings as they are the council's meetings and all they do at the meetings when the Mayor shows is harass him. Even the convicted murderer councilmember Gary Hulsey - as reported by KOMO - harasses the Mayor. Good Lord end this cesspool of a town. Council stop wasting time. You are all done just annex into Auburn instead of thinking your threats will get Mayor to resign. They won't work. Council cause all this and try to blame it on Mayor. So, Cy won't be Mayor. Who cares. Council had a chance to be decent and failed, so none of you will be councilmembers either ha ha ha

What part of "You CANNOT fire policer chiefs and city department heads and expect to continue to exist as a city" are you NOT UNDERSTANDING?
The City Cuncil was elected. They have not only the right but the absolute obligation to question this batchit-crazy Tea Bagger "mayor" and his insane actions. As difficult as it is for the apparently senile mayor to grasp, being a mayor is not actually a dictatorship, you actually do not have the right to fire anybody and everybody who questions you or stonewall the city council. If the so-called "mayor" did not understand that he was actually expected to attend meetings and communicate with the city council then obviously he was completely and utterly unqualified for the position of "mayor" in the first place. If you are thta eager to kill off your own toen, move to Auburn, don't expect it to come to you.

Don Thompson teams up with convicted murderer to oust mayor
Don Thompson and his entire recall effort is nothing but a vengeful hatred of Thompson's candidate losing. And as seen in news footage holding recall signs Don Thompson's buddy convicted wife murderer and Pacific City councilmember Gary Hulsey are "the" recall effort against Mayor Sun. Are these the kind of sick people you would believe a word from their mouths? The public doesn't have a right to know personal info on private citizens especially hearsay reports, but the legislature has deemed the public has the right to know on murderers and sex offenders. So check out who Don Thompson, and Tracy Apata have teamed up with to try to oust a legally elected Mayor Sun pase the below in your browser http://www.kval.com/news/local/Convicted-of-murder-in-1979-elected-to-City-Council-in-2007-140801093.html It's legal to mail to every citizen Gary Hulseys conviction and other records on this murder as the legislature has said it's the publics right to know. Maybe it's time this is done.

    A "Sourse" really? A liar.
Get over it. It's been a year. One accusation after another goes nowhere, yet they keep coming up with more and the press just "sucks it up." How would you like people "camped" outside your house calling the "press" every time you go away for a couple of days? Good Lord, stop already. As for the source, what a joke. That Kris Mott guy who gets on TV with his sick stalking film of the Mayor got nothing more than our Mayor walking past mailboxes to legally put fliers on doorsteps. Mayor knows better than to open a mailbox. If the guy weren't lying he'd of gotten his "so called claim" on film. He had the camera for God's sake. When are you people going to stop. Mayor is not going anywhere. Our town never was in danger of being uninsured, unincorporated, or annexed into Auburn, it was all a "play act" by the disgruntled city council and their "friends" to gain support for their ridiculous recall campaign. Get over it already.

Are you on drugs, or just stupid?
Your town is in danger of being uninsured as we speak. There is still a very real possibility that the town will be disincorporated and dissolved completely and merged with Auburn. Is English not your primary language, or are you just on drugs? The City of Pacific City Council voted Wednesday night to purchase a last-minute offer for insurance, which will allow Pacific to remain a city. City Council President Leanne Guier says the new policy comes at a higher cost and provides lower coverage, but it at the very least will buy time to keep the city functioning. The current policy ends January 1st. It refused to extend its policy because it considered Pacific too much of a risk. City leaders say the company blames Mayor Cy Sun and $11 million in lawsuits against the city as a result of his actions. “You need liability insurance to operate the city, the employees need to have some sort of liability coverage, coverage on all the vehicles, coverage for anyone that may get hurt,” said Leanne Guier, Council President. “It’s all in the air and we don’t have a clue,” said John Richardson, a Pacific resident for more than 30 years. According to Guier, Pacific was turned down at least a half dozen times before finding this offer. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/50301186/ns/local_news-seattle_wa/
