Lynnwood police say the identification of a suspicious man may lead them to the suspect in several Puget Sound bank robberies.

They have asked the public to help identify the man, who was caught on surveillance video walking into the Prime Pacific Bank at 2502 196th St. SW in Lynnwood on Dec. 19.

The man asked a teller for his sunglasses, which he claimed to have left there the day before.

“The reason why it’s suspicious is that the man said he had left the sunglasses there the day prior and he wasn’t there the day prior,” said Officer Shannon Sessions with the Lynnwood Police Department.

Two days later, on Dec. 21, the bank was robbed by a man brandishing a stun gun. He passed a note to the teller, then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The bank robber is described as a white male in his 20’s, between 5′ 10″ and 6′ with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hoody with the word “RAGE” printed in large letters on the front.

The suspicious person had a similar description, although his face is fully visible on surveillance video. He may have been driving an older model Toyota Corolla.

Lynnwood police are also investigating a robbery at the Chase Bank at 4001 Alderwood Mall Boulevard that occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 5. The suspect, described as a white male in his 20’s, about 6′ with a medium build, passed a note to the teller implying he had a weapon. He then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police are working with the FBI and other agencies to determine if the robbery is connected to others in the Puget Sound area.

The Tacoma Police Department is looking for tips in a robbery that occurred Monday morning at a Key Bank located in the 3900 block of N. 26th St.

The suspect, who was masked, demanded cash from the bank tellers and made away with an undisclosed amount on money. He is described as a white male, approximately 5′ 11″ tall, medium build, with a blonde beard.

If you have any information about the Tacoma bank robbery, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Those with information about the suspicious person or bank robberies in Lynnwood are asked to call Lynnwood Police Det. Sgt. Rod Cohnheim at 425-670-5617.
