Seahawks fans rally with special team send-off
on January 11, 2013 @ 3:25 pm (Updated: 4:12 pm - 1/11/13 )The pre-game festivities began early for Seahawks fans, who rallied outside Renton City Hall before giving the team a special playoff send-off.
Boosters young and old, some in face paint, others in costume and most wearing Seahawks team gear ate hot dogs, took photos with Blitz and the Seagals, joined in cheers and judged a costume contest.
Fans asked to predict the story line of Sunday's contest against the Falcons in Atlanta offered various headlines.
One fan thinks rookie Bruce Irvin will step up with three sacks as he starts in place of injured defensive end Chris Clemmons.
Another predicts quarterback Russell Wilson will make his case for Rookie of the Year. All the fans agree Seattle will win the showdown and advance to the conference championship game the following week.
After the city hall rally, Seahawks fans got a police and fire truck escort to a nearby freeway overpass to greet the Seahawks team buses as they passed by on their way to the airport, and their flight to Atlanta.
