Seattle police searching for Magnolia bank robbery suspecton January 16, 2013 @ 11:49 am (Updated: 1:45 pm - 1/16/13 )
Seattle police are searching for the suspect in an armed robbery at a Magnolia area bank on Wednesday.
Police say the suspect, dressed in a yellow jacket, a mask, and sunglasses entered the US Bank location at 31st Ave W. and W. McGraw St. and ordered customers and staff to the ground at gunpoint.
"The suspect then demanded money." says Seattle Police spokesperson Renee Witt. "Upon receiving the money he fled the bank with the cash."
Responding officers took a white male into custody, but the man turned out not to be the person police were looking for.
"This gentleman in that vehicle was also wearing a yellow jacket. So of course officers thought this was the suspect they were looking for. They contacted him and ultimately he was cleared and was not the suspect we were looking for," says Witt.
Police continue to search for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD Robbery Unit at (206) 684-5535.
