Seattle's Macklemore achieves top status on the Billboard Hot 100

He may not be running for mayor for another 12 years, but Seattle's newest hip hop star Macklemore has achieved top status on the Billboard charts.

Macklemore and his production partner Ryan Lewis have the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts with "Thrift Shop."

His album "The Heist" landed at number two on the Billboard 200 back in October, and "Thrift Shop" achieved platinum status on Jan. 3.
