Former University of Washington frat president charged with second sexual assault

A former University of Washington fraternity president previously convicted of sexual assault has pleaded not guilty to charges that he drugged a woman and then raped her.

Edwin K. DeBoer, 26, is being held on $300,000 bail.

According to prosecutors, DeBoer took the victim out for dinner and drinks on Nov. 17, 2012. She told police she woke up in his Federal Way apartment the following morning with no recollection of how she got there.

"[The victim] stated that she last remembers seeing a beer and appetizers on the table as they sat in a booth," according to court documents. "[The victim] stated that her next recollection is waking up in the morning at about 0800 hours and realizing that she was naked in bed with DeBoer."

The victim told police she felt pain to her vagina and rectum, and that there were three used condoms on the floor. She said DeBoer told her they had sex.

Her sister, a nurse, took her to Tacoma General Hospital where a sexual assault kit and urine sample revealed traces of Lorazepam, a powerful sedative that can cause amnesia when taken with alcohol.

DeBoer was previously charged with rape for a 2009 attack that took place at his Phi Kappa Theta fraternity house. He pleaded guilty to a lesser crime of harassment and was given a 12-month suspended sentence and 15 days community service.

Prosecutors say DeBoer poses "a serious threat to the safety of the community" and has demonstrated a "highly concerning pattern of serial sexual assault."

    this is why i have a hard time being cool with frat life.

    it all sounds pretty awesome, animal house/revenge of the nerds style. but, then some scumbag like this shows some of the REAL evil that comes from that life.

    i know for a FACT that MOST sororities use the "buddy system" at frat parties and they usually NEVER take a drink that was poured out of their eyesight.

    this dude is scum.
