Seattle lane closures on I-5 Friday, Saturday
on February 8, 2013 @ 12:16 pm (Updated: 12:51 pm - 2/8/13 )Getting into Seattle from the north late Friday may be tougher than usual.
The Washington State Department of Transportation is closing three of the four southbound lanes from Ravenna to just south of the Ship Canal Bridge.
"We are closing three out of four lanes on southbound I-5 from NE Ravenna Blvd. to the Ship Canal Bridge, and then from the Ship Canal Bridge to just south of East Roanoke St.," says Broch Bender with WSDOT.
Bender says the closure will be from 10 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
The closure is meant to bring a smoother commute after the work is completed.
"What this project does is we're going to get out there and grind down the wheel ruts, especially by the University District, SB I-5, and remove the worst of the worst bumps," says Bender.
Similar closures will occur every Friday through March.
