East Coast winter storm impacting air travel at Sea-Tac

More than 3,000 flights nationwide have been canceled as winter weather pounds the East Coast. The Port of Seattle says the storm is impacting travelers at Sea-Tac as well.

So far, 24 flights in and out of Sea-Tac Airport have been impacted.

Port of Seattle spokesman Perry Cooper says anyone with flight travel plans should check with their airlines.

"See if your specific flight has any delays or cancellations," says Cooper.

Most of the flights being canceled are those to and from airports in New York and Boston as a massive storm threatened to dump snow by the foot on the region.

Connecting flights in Chicago and other Midwest cities are also affected.

Airlines were generally shutting down operations in the afternoon at the three big New York-area airports as well as Boston, Providence, Portland, Maine, and other Northeastern airports. They're hoping to resume flights on Saturday.

Flight-tracking website FlightAware said airlines have canceled more than 4,200 flights on Friday and Saturday in advance of the storm.
