West Seattle Bridge connection to I-5 closed for weekend work

Getting out of West Seattle could be a bit tough this weekend, as crews plan to close the I-5 ramps from the West Seattle Bridge starting Friday night at 10 p.m

The Washington Department of Transportation is replacing four expansion joints and starting work on repairing some slabs of concrete.

"Right now the drive over these ramps is pretty bumpy especially at the points where the expansion joints come together and with new expansion joints you'll have a smoother ride," said WSDOT spokesperson Broch Bender.

Bender said with the Monday holiday, crews should be able to complete the project this weekend. The ramps are scheduled to reopen Tuesday morning at 5 a.m.
