A day after a state commission recommended raising the toll on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge by 25 cents, a state lawmaker has announced a bill to keep the toll right where it is.
Representative Jan Angel of Port Orchard says her measure would only allow the toll to be adjusted after all the current debt is paid off.
“I’m trying to make sure that funds, raised in the way of revenue have something to do with the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, stay with the debt services for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. And there is a way to extend this out to keep our tolls maintained,” says Angel.
Currently, tolling on the bridge is going to continue going up year after year, according to Angel.
Tolls are $4 for electronic collection, $5 at the toll booths, and $6 bucks for pay-by-mail.
