Nirvana fans have won the battle to keep the saying “Come As You Are” on the welcome sign in the city of Aberdeen.

KXRO in Grays Harbor County reports the mayor of Aberdeen decided to keep the sign up after hundreds of emails poured in when rumors surfaced the Nirvana song title was being removed.

The city is replacing aging signs along Highway 12, but the content will remain the same.

The reference was added to the “Welcome to Aberdeen” sign in 2005, after the 10-year anniversary of Cobain’s death in Seattle.
