The list of America's top colleges is revealed by Forbes, ranking the University of Washington the highest among the other Washington schools.

The University of Washington has a student population of around 42,000, with about 59 percent of those students on financial aid. This diverse campus is one of the oldest public universities on the West coast and a prominent research institution. As far as public school ranking, UW comes in at number 11, the Dawgs have a lot to be proud of.

Although ranked far below their rival UW, Washington State University still makes the overall list with a ranking of 328 for their dedication to research and involvement in study abroad programs.

Following closely behind UW, Whitman College, located in Walla Walla, Washington, is ranked number 62 for their success as a co-educational liberal arts school with only about 2,000 students.

These colleges complete the Washington ranking list: University of Puget Sound, 161; Gonzaga University, 191; Whitworth University, 201; Seattle University, 241; Pacific Lutheran University, 256; Seattle Pacific University, 315; and Western Washington University, 339.
