The 12th Man throws Skittles on the field to feed to the Beast, Marshawn Lynch, when he scores a touchdown. And when fans lined the streets to send Seahawks to the Super Bowl, 710 ESPN’s Danny O’Neil said they were throwing Skittles in the path of the team bus.
Despite Seahawk running back’s love of Skittles, which he says help calm his stomach at game time, it’s easy to forget he doesn’t officially endorse the candy – until now.
Skittles formally announced a deal with Marshawn Lynch Tuesday. The deal marks the first time the candy brand has ever paid an athlete.
To kick off the partnership, Skittles will make a limited edition “Seattle Mix,” which includes only blue and green colors that the company will hand out this week.
While the endorsement may only be getting underway now, chefs around Seattle have been incorporating Skittles in many of their Seahawks themed dishes.
At CenturyLink Field, the Beast Mode burger features a side of Skittles, the 12th Man breakfast at Little Jerry’s in Tacoma includes Skittles in your pancakes, and Marshawn’s Boiler maker at the Brave Horse Tavern in Seattle is a Rainer & shot of Skittles, just to name a few menu items.
