Firefighters pulled off Carlton Complex wildfire for flash floods

Jul 23, 2014, 3:52 PM | Updated: 7:15 pm

Firefighters were pulled off the fire line at the Carlton Complex wildfires Wednesday due to flash flooding.

Radar showed heavy rain associated with a thunderstorm in Chelan County. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning through Wednesday evening.

Locals report mudslides at mile post 11 on the Entiat River Road and a rolling boulder near Tommy Creek, also in the Entiat Valley.

Slides are possible near steep slopes, according to forecasters. The NWS warns of flooding at Ardenvoir and at campgrounds in the Entiat Valley, including Cottonwood, Pine Flat, Fox Creek, Ramona Park and Silver Falls as well as 25 Mile State Park along Lake Chelan. The NWS is advising people in the area to move to higher ground.

Another flash flood warning was in effect for the Mills Canyon burn scar in central Chelan County throughout the afternoon. Heavy rain could lead to debris flows of rock, mud, and vegetation.
