A fugitive sex offender from California admitted to police that he beat to death his roommates at a Spanaway home last weekend.

“He also said he had no regrets,” Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist told KIRO Radio.

The 40-year-old man is being held without bail while they review his statement, Lindquist said.

According to court documents, the suspect was angry that the victims, ages 20 and 66, were “grooming” boys for sex. He had decided he was going to kill the two men the day before.

A Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy was doing a sex offender address check Sunday morning and discovered the bodies of two men inside the home located in the 7700 block of 200th St. E.

Investigators pulled over a vehicle at 96th St S and Steele St S Sunday afternoon after receiving a tip from county deputies. The 40-year-old suspect was in the car with three other people who were questioned but not detained.

The victims’ names have not been released. The 66-year-old man was also a sex offender and it was his registration the deputy was verifying, according to the News Tribune.

The investigation was slowed over concerns about strange wiring found in the home, but it was later determined to be wiring to an old marijuana grow on the property.
