King County Sheriff John Urquhart has announced that former interim Seattle Police Chief Jim Pugel will be his second in command.
Urquhart says he’ll help manage the sheriff’s office, which has about 1,000 employees, including 700 deputies.
Pugel, 55, served as interim chief at the Seattle Police Department from April 2013 to January 2014 until he was replaced by Harry Bailey.
Pugel begins his new role on Sept. 1 and will make roughly $173,000 a year.
