Second suspect sought in Kent gas station murderson August 21, 2014 @ 10:59 am (Updated: 3:27 pm - 8/21/14 )
Police are seeking a second suspect in a double murder at a Kent gas station Wednesday morning.
No description has been provided.
A 29-year-old man was booked into King County Jail suspected of killing two men outside the gas station. Leland Dean Russell was booked just after midnight on Thursday for investigation of two homicides and is being held without bail. He has a court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Another man was detained Wednesday, but let go after questioning.
Police served a search warrant at a Burien home overnight as part of the investigation into the shooting deaths.
Witnesses at the gas station told reporters two men in a black Cadillac with music blaring pulled into a Shell station around 8:30 a.m. blocking other customers.
The passenger was confronted as he was going inside and an argument followed, according to multiple reports. He then got into another argument with two men outside the store.
The man went back to the car and shots were fired, according to a witness. The car then sped away.
A Kent fire department spokesman, Kyle Ohashi, said medics declared the victims dead at the scene.
The Seattle Times reports the two men killed were gas station employees, according to a law enforcement source.
"We will continue to follow leads based on the information that we get in until we're confident we've exhausted all those leads," said Kent Police Cmdr. Jarod Kasner.
The Times reports Russell has been arrested before for burglary and felony harassment.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
