Report: NHL planning expansion, including team in Seattle

Seattle may be getting an NHL team by 2017, according to a tweet from Howard Bloom of Sports Business News.
In a tweet Tuesday evening, Bloom indicated Seattle was one of four locations where the NHL hopes to add a team by 2017.

At least part of this report was seconded by another sports reporter. Tony Gallagher, who writes for The Province in Vancouver, said a Las Vegas team is a “done deal.”
Talk of an NHL team coming to Seattle has increased with investor Chris Hansen’s plans for building a new arena in the city in attempts to lure back the NBA.
Back in May, KING 5 reported another man who’s interested in bringing an NHL team to Seattle had spent $281 million on buildings in the city’s Stadium District.
Real estate investor Victor Coleman told KING 5 recently that he saw it as an investment in the city and was trying to partner with Chris Hansen on his arena deal.
Coleman and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman were part of a delegation that flew to Seattle May 6 to meet with King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to discuss the possibility of bringing professional hockey to Seattle.
