A man sped away from a West Seattle convenience store Wednesday after stealing an SUV with a baby inside.
“Apparently a dad parked his car to momentarily run into a convenience store, left it running to keep the AC on,” explained Seattle police detective Drew Fowler. “As he walked into the convenience store, a suspect jumped into the car with the 10-month-old baby still in the back.”
Seattle police said they found the child in the black Ford Edge 19 minutes into the search about two miles from the store located at 16th SW and SW Holden St.
A suspect was taken into custody about an hour after the SUV was reported stolen.
“Likely, the thief got more than he bargained for when he found a child in the back seat,” Fowler said.
