Man shot in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, police seek gunman

Sep 24, 2014, 11:38 AM | Updated: 5:26 pm

A man shot Wednesday morning in Pioneer Square has died, and Seattle police continue seeking the gunman who opened fire and another man potentially linked to the shooting.

Seattle police detective Patrick Michaud says witnesses reported having heard three or four shots near Yessler Way and 2nd Avenue just after 10:40 a.m. They saw a man try to stumble away into a park before collapsing.

Witnesses describe the victim as a transient in his 20s.

Police continue to scour the area in search of the gunman, Fowler says.

Medics treated the man at the scene and rushed him to Harborview Medical Center where he died.

One stray bullet penetrated a wall at Seattle’s iconic Smith Tower, but no one else was injured.

Police say they saw two men in hooded sweatshirts running from the scene of the shooting. Detectives are trying to identify the two men.
