Chance of a white Christmas Eve is now just a forecast for more rain

If you were dreaming of a “White Christmas” in the Seattle-area, bad news: An earlier prediction of snow in the lowlands is now a forecast for rain.
Chances were slim that we’d see a White Christmas this year, but hope remained that a White Christmas Eve might be in your future depending on exactly where you live in the Puget Sound area.
Now, a winter weather advisory only warns of snow in the mountain passes in Snohomish, King, Pierce and Lewis Counties.
The National Weather Service says 3 to 5 inches will fall in the Cascades Wednesday before tapering off by late afternoon. Snow and slush were reported on Snoqualmie and White passes, with compact snow and ice on Stevens Pass.
The Washington State Department of Transportation said drivers Wednesday morning can expect snow in the passes.
Forecasters say the rain will end Thursday. Cloudy skies are forecast for Christmas across Washington. The weather will transition to a colder, drier pattern over the weekend.
Along the coast, a flood advisory remains in affect from 5 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday. The NWS says minor flooding is possible from one of the highest tides of the year.
