Four people were arrested and one shot in the hand after a fight at Westfield Southcenter Mall in Tukwila Monday.
Police raced to the mall after receiving reports of a shot fired in a common area, about 50 feet inside the mall’s north entrance.
Security locked down the mall and officers quickly identified the four young men involved.
Tukwila police Cmdr. Eric Drever says one participant in a fight involving several young men in their late teens pulled out a gun and “fired what we believe was one shot.”
Drever says the teen who was hit was treated at the scene. The spokesman says that teen and three other young men were detained for questioning. Police recovered a handgun from a nearby parking lot.

Drever says there was no official lockdown but crime scene tape did temporarily “inhibit some stores’ ability to do business.” Stores reopened about an hour after the incident.
