An octopus at the Seattle Aquarium is making headlines for trying to bust out of its enclosures for a taste of the vertebrates life.
The cephalopod scaled its enclosure Feb. 26 and stretched three muscular red tentacles over the top. It wasn’t long before a visitor stepped up and pushed the adventurous creature back down.
Days earlier, an octopus was caught on camera launching out of a tidal pool to take down an unsuspecting crab. It’s then seen wrapping its body around the crustacean and dragging it to its lair.
Actually, the experts say octopuses can stay on dry land for a short period, which is handy for hunting in shallow water.
However, it all makes one wonder if these now-famous sea creatures are channeling a certain underwater Disney princess.
And if these brazen molluscs are going to keep venturing out to parts unnatural, should we be worried about a species of Davy Jones (character in second Pirates of the Caribbean)?
