A dash-cam video shows an officer attempting to pull over Daniel Lopez-Andino, who allegedly physically assaulted the mother of his child, took her purse and car keys and grabbed their son. The woman saw Lopez-Andino buckle the child into the front seat of her car.
Lopez-Andino is the non-custodial parent. Lopez-Andino is diagnosed as bipolar and is off medication, according to police.
Officers spotted the BMW Lopez- Andino was driving at 39 Avenue S and S Carkeek. They turned on their lights and sirens, but Lopez-Andino ignored them and sped off recklessly.
Because of earlier reports that the boy was not secured in a car seat, officers discontinued their pursuit out of concern Lopez-Andino’s careless driving would cause a crash.
The child was later located in a Skyway home. According to KING 5, a SWAT team went into the home while Lopez-Andino was asleep and took the child off his chest. They then arrested Lopez-Andino.
