A woman in her 90s is dead and her 76-year-old son is hospitalized following a house fire on Capitol Hill.
Fire crews responded to the blaze just before 9 a.m., and Seattle Fire spokesman Kyle Moore said it was threatening to spread.
Firefighters extinguished the fire in the 400 block of 16th Ave. E. within 45 minutes and later found the woman’s body inside.
Her son was outside when crews arrived. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
