A car full of spectators watching a street fight got more than they expected after one bystander was shot in the head.
Witnesses told Seattle police officers that their group spotted a street fight while driving in the 3000 block of Beacon Avenue South early Sunday morning. They stopped the car to get a view of the violent spectacle.
The fight between two men turned more bloody when one of the men pulled out a gun. The man fired but missed his opponent, yet the bullet continued on to shatter the back window of the car filled with watchers. A woman was injured by shattered glass as it flew through the air.
The car then sped off to take the injured woman to the hospital.
Officers later returned to the scene of the shooting to find a single shell casing as well as a car covered in blood.
Emergency room doctors at Harborview Medical Center suspected the woman’s head wound was from more than just shattered glass, but also from a bullet, and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
Investigators are asking for any witnesses or others with helpful information to call the Homicide/Assault Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
