Drug peddlers might want to learn from this alleged crack dealer’s experience. If you want to sell drugs in downtown Seattle, don’t do it around city hall.
City Hall Park to be exact, a block away from Seattle’s center of operations, and also surround by various city and county offices including a sheriff’s office, the superior courthouse, a prosecutor’s office, and a department of corrections work release office.
When park patrons reported some not-so-discrete drug dealing at the park Sunday afternoon, Seattle police responded and watched the area. After all, the park is only a couple blocks from the police headquarters.
Officers witnessed the 46-year-old man spending the afternoon sipping back on beer while parked in a green Chevy alongside the public space. Police watched people repeatedly walk up to the Chevy where the man reportedly would open a small metal mint box, remove a rock of crack with his hand wearing a black glove and distribute it to customers.
Officers then arrested the man who was found to have 5.3 grams of crack and $380 in cash in his possession. The car was not searched. Police are waiting to obtain a warrant to search the vehicle.
The man reportedly told police officers that he wore the black glove to handle the crack in order to pass drug tests later. He said that the glove has helped him pass tests in the past.
The man was booked into King County Jail for narcotics possession.
