The mayor of Richland says it’s a tough call on whether the city should honor Hope Solo’s Women’s World Cup win.

According to the Yakima Herald, Mayor David Rose considered public recognition for the Richland native, but decided against it.

“I was wondering what we could do when I was watching the game,” Rose said. “I was wondering if the city could recognize her somehow, but I couldn’t think of anything appropriate.”

In 2008, Richland honored Solo with a “Hope Solo Day.” The soccer star returned to Richland and signed autographs and posed for pictures in front of a crowd of 500 people in September 2008, according to the Herald.

Since then, Solo’s image has suffered from off-the-field issues. Most recently, she was suspended for a month after her husband, Jerramy Stevens, was arrested for DUI while driving the team’s van. Solo was in the passenger seat.

The city of Kirkland, Solo’s current place of residence, also has no plans to host a celebration.

New York is throwing a ticker-tape parade for the team on Friday morning, according to The New York Times.
