Wallingford neighbors awoke to an unwelcome sight Monday &#8212 a view of teddy bears hanging from nooses at a vacant house.

The house is part of a vacant row of homes slated to be torn down to make way for a new apartment building on the corner of 45th Street and Woodlawn Avenue. It’s unknown why the bears were hung there, or who hung them.

The display shows three teddy bears hanging from a balcony by nooses in descending order &#8212 the larger bear hanging lowest, then medium, and the smallest bear hanging the highest. There is a fourth bear slouched over the railing above the other three.

A Seattle Police Department spokesperson said that they have not received any calls about the hanging stuffed animals, but they would address the matter if a neighbor reported the incident.

One person on the Wallyhood blog forum wrote that they have contacted the developer of the property about the issue and didn’t want their 7-year-old child viewing it as they passed by.
