Beecher's is one of Oprah's favorite things

Oprah's annual "Favorite Things" episode, which aired Friday, featured extravagant and sensible gifts, as well as a tasty treat from an iconic Seattle cheese shop.

Beecher's Mac and Cheese made the list, and her audience got some to sample.

"We ship quite a bit of our mac and cheese frozen around the country," said Kurt Beecher Dammier, owner of Beecher's Handmade Cheese. "Each of the audience members gets a shipment from us, plus they got to eat it live in the studio."

On her website, Oprah said "The best part [is] it comes frozen. All you have to do is heat it up, and you've got yourself some good eatin' from Beecher's."

Dammier said they watched the east coast feed of the show on Friday, and that "[Oprah] obviously really, really liked it."

According to Dammier their flagship cheese is really the core of the traditional dish. "It's a very simple recipe that was created by a few of us together."

On Friday afternoon, the Beecher's website stated that due to heavy web traffic, they were only able to offer a limited version of their website, but visitors could still order the award-winning, and now Oprah-approved, Mac and Cheese.

    Seriously? $8 per serving?
I like an occasional comfort-meal plate of the mac/cheese, and I make a decent living, but there is no way in H-E double toothpicks that I'm paying that much for cheesy pasta. The Church of Oprah continues to fleece the flock.

    Oprah food recommendations
Yes the fried chicken at the local place she raved about was ok to good, but in my and my wife's opinons, nothing special. Like KFC better and like our homemade fried chicken better also. What, they don't have good fried chicken in Chicago? $8? Why would anyone pay that for food for welfare receipients?

    I'm Thinkin'
I'm, once again, in the wrong business. People get payed to sit and watch and report on this crap? But, then again, maybe it's well earned pay to have to stomach that job.

I'm not sure 'Oprah endorsed' is a good thing for a food product
I know anything she blesses flies off the shelf but she could use a little more salad and a little less fried chicken and mac&cheese. The reason most people limit their fat saturated food intake is to avoid ending up Oprah shaped.

    Stupid Articles
What a stupid article for a crappy lady. She looks like Maccaroni and Cheese. Is that the best reporting they can do?
