The 55-year-old Lacey woman struck the deer while driving on southbound I-5 near Sleater-Kinney Road Tuesday morning.
"The deer hit the windshield first, got flipped up in the air and landed through the back window of the car into the trunk area," said Trooper Guy Gill. "It's a very odd scenario and this lady is so lucky that she is not seriously injured."
Gill described the scene as unreal. "You don't see anything like this very often at all."
The woman was able to pull her 2001 Hyundai over to shoulder without incident.
