A 23-year-old man accused of driving drunk and plowing his vehicle into a group of pedestrians pleaded "not guilty" to four counts of vehicular assault on Tuesday.

Cary Griffin, a University of Washington senior, has been out of jail on $200,000 bail since the Dec. 10 incident.

Prosecutors say six people were hit and four of them were seriously injured after closing time outside a lounge in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. The injured included a 21-year-old man who suffered a traumatic brain injury and fractures to his skull and face. Charging papers say the group of bar patrons had just left the Ballroom Lounge when Griffin drove into them.

Court documents allege Griffin drove half a block before stopping and walking back to the scene. His blood alcohol level was nearly 0.19, more than double the legal limit.
